Below is an overview of the class structure.
10:00 - 10:45 - Group Warm Up
It is important to properly warm up before playing in order to develop healthy habits. During the group warm up, I will lead the class through warming up our bodies with light stretching, sound development, and technique work. We will focus on scales patterns to build the foundation for strong technical proficiency on the instrument.
10:45 - 11:45 - Masterclass
Masterclass is an opportunity for students to play in front of a group. I will foster a supportive and encouraging masterclass environment. Each student will play in front of their peers and will receive my instruction as well as feedback from the other students. During masterclass, students can play something they are working on or we will all explore new ideas and topics such as how to deal with nerves, auditions, professionalism, and how to efficiently practice.
11:45 - 12:30 - Lunch Together
I will provide a nutritious lunch each Saturday. Students are welcome to bring their own lunches. Please inform me of any allergies your child may have. I will send an email each Friday informing you of what I will bring for lunch on Saturday in case your child would prefer to bring their own meal.
12:30 - 2:00 - Flute Choir
During the flute choir hour, we will work on music for flute ensemble. Depending on the size of the class and the skill level, I may divide the ensemble into smaller groups so more advanced students can work on more challenging music together. This is the music we will be performing on our final concert.
